Remember that your website is there to sell your products.
It is not there to show off how clever your website is. (Unless you are selling website functionality)
It is important that Links pass the "Test of Relevance"
(or are they Interesting in HIHI)
Again consider each target market.
Q. Why are they on this page?
A. To buy the product represented on this page
So don't fill the page up with extraneous information, keep to the point.
However there may well be scenarios where you want to link to another web site.
These fall into two main categories:-
Be it a booking form, information about the weather, road conditions or tax rates, ensure you link to exact page that your customers need so they can get what they want and get back to your site.
Remember that links to 3rd Party sites will need periodic checking as, when the third party moves the page address, your link will fail.
Also that there will be no link back to your site.
Your customer will have to use his browser to navigate back to your site.
One of the great things about joining the CareAbout Community, is that you can have as many sites as you want.
This means that you can keep your technical product information on one site, your marketing on another and support information on a third. Thereby ensuring that you pass the test of relevance, by keeping to the point, and yet providing Links to supporting information should the customer require it, followed by a Link back to your product site so they can make a purchase.
(We are aware that this can cause the opening of multiple pages and will address this in the next release of CareAbout)
Next Step
Having Checked on your site that your links are working fine.
